Even after having consumed a plethora of content, there was this particular type which I could not indulge myself in - which is a novel, web novel to be specific (I have successfully read novels in the past, though nowadays it seems quite tedious as well).

This could be considered partly due to the fact that prolonged and focused reading is quite a challenging task for me (or for anyone) until the content is extremely alluring. Plus that fact that having consumed an ample amount of content of various natures and genres, the list of things that are capable of piquing my interest has become shorter than I would like it to be.

However, this particular web novel was able to surpass that wall of disinterest and bring me over to the haven full of excitement and adventure. The name is in the title of this article - “Lord of the Mysteries”.

The mystery surrounding the title itself is quite a satisfying one to unravel. It is originally a Chinese web novel authored by “Cuttlefish That Loves Diving”, trust me, that is the pen name the author goes by.

The story is about one Klein Moreti, who actually is a person named Zhou Mingrui. Zhou Mingrui after performing a particular luck-enhancing ritual he came across, seemingly without any outcome, travels to the world of the Lord of the Mysteries in to body of our protagonist. Even though this particular description would remind one of a generic isekai story, this one is so much more than that.

The world protagonist wakes up has a setting similar to that of the time surrounding the Victorian Era. Driven by his desire to return home, he tries to explore the workings of this world, which he on his arrival finds to be one full of mysteries and strange powers, at the center of these powers are what they call potions, and the individuals who consume those potions to acquire strange powers - the Beyonders.

This is much more to this setting than this simple description. The author has done a great work, which you will be able to discover yourself when you see the turn this story takes against all of your predictions, and all such outcomes being completely reasonable and rational, given the information you have at hand, and yet, beyond your expectations.

Even the ones you which unfold as you might expect, would unfold in manners that would leave you wanting for more. This is a journey completely worth the time you might need to invest in it (which is quite a bit), thought be warned, this might leave you desiring for more.
